"This is Mrs. Iris A. Thomas, Yeabu Kamara, Rugiatu Kamara and Adamsay Kamara. They named their group Help Me. They are all local entrepreneurs in Waterloo, which is twenty miles from Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city. This will be their first loan form SMT/Kiva. This loan will, however, create a meaningful impact in the lives of these borrowers. They will be able to use the proceeds to pay for their children’s school fees. They will also be able to feed and clothe themselves and their children with the income generated from the loan. They are requesting a loan of 500,000 SLL, each, to buy more goods to add to their businesses.

Mrs. Iris A. Thomas (left) is the leader of the group. She is sixty-one years of age. She was born in Waterloo. Her husband is now retired and the two of them have five children, all grown-up. Mrs. Iris A. Thomas has built a primary school in Waterloo where she is serving as Head Teacher. She is also a businesswoman; she sells stationery. She has been in this business for twelve years now."
